The Buddha Factory – a project of the Diamondway Buddhism Foundation
Since the former iron foundry and subsequent Unimog workshop in the Kramerstraße 18 was purchased by Buddhists from Braunschweig in April 2003, a centre for meditation and Buddhist art has gradually come into being. A decade of renovating and refurbishing the building could and can only be carried out through private donations and tireless volunteer work.
The project is part of the Diamondway Buddhism Foundation. The building provides space for many different activities on a property containing 2400 square metres that include 1800 square metres of effective area. At its core, the Buddhist centre offers daily meditation sessions, lectures on a regular basis, explanations on the meditation practise, a library, teachers´ training, introductions to schoolchildren and much more. Moreover, we are home to an artists´ workshop that is run by the Buddhist Institute for Tibetan Art (BINTA) and an online bookshop for Buddhist literature (LOGOS).
Buddhism of the Karma Kagyu lineage
Buddhism was founded by the Indian prince Siddhartha Gautama, who, at the age of 35, reached a state of lasting, limitless happiness – enlightenment. During 45 years of constant traveling, he encountered different kinds of people and gave general and specific advice for all life’s situations. Buddha’s teachings enable us to experience lasting happiness.
Diamond Way Buddhism is a lay organization of the Karma Kagyu lineage, which belongs to the one of the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism. The meditation methods used by Diamond Way Buddhism – while all traditional – are presented in a modern, Western setting accessible to all. Through our meditation centers and courses worldwide, many people are able to use and benefit from Buddha’s timeless methods.
